Summary

- The Pocso court acquitted him of all charges.
A Pocso court in Salem acquitted a 32-year-old man on Friday, July 5, 2024, who had been incarcerated for nearly two years. The man, S Karthi, was accused of raping and impregnating a minor. He steadfastly refused to seek bail, maintaining his innocence throughout the ordeal.
Karthi was arrested in September 2024 by Mettur all-women police following a complaint from a 17-year-old girl. Despite his claims of innocence, he was remanded in judicial custody. The case took a turn when the complainant gave birth to a child, prompting the court to order DNA testing.
The DNA results, which were confirmed on Friday, established that Karthi was not the father of the child. The court reviewed this report, and Judge Meenakshi acquitted Karthi of all charges. He was subsequently released from Salem Central Jail, stating his conscience was clear and he returned to his village with his head held high.
