Blackmailer Caught: Extorting Traders via Online Complaints

A man identified as Sanjay Yadav has been apprehended by the Malad Police for allegedly extorting money from small traders in the western suburbs. Yadav, who resides in Goregaon's Prem Nagar slum, is accused of using online complaints on X, formerly Twitter, as a tactic to blackmail local businesses.

The arrest followed an FIR lodged based on testimonies from several affected traders. These merchants reported that Yadav would target their businesses by posting negative feedback online, subsequently using these complaints to extort funds. The police have stated that the accused has been arrested under the provisions of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Senior Inspector Dushyant Chavan of Malad police issued an appeal, urging any individuals who have experienced similar harassment or blackmail by the accused to report to the Malad Police station. This initiative aims to ensure all victims have an avenue to seek justice and to apprehend anyone else involved in such illicit activities.
