On July 4, 2026, Upalokayukta Justice K.N. Phaneendra initiated a series of surprise inspections in Madikeri, targeting public facilities. The district hospital's sanitation, medicine distribution, and patient care were examined, with patients reporting satisfactory services. However, irregular maintenance of attendance records drew the Upalokayukta's displeasure.
Further inspections revealed a public park marred by biomedical waste dumping and functioning as a parking area, prompting directives for restoration or removal of its name board. The Regional Transport Office (RTO) was instructed to ensure hassle-free public services, including vehicle registration and license issuance.
Concerns at the KoIMS students' hostel encompassed inadequate water supply, poor electrical wiring, and rainwater seepage. Students also highlighted the lack of drying facilities, a library, and a playground. Authorities were urged to address these issues and bring genuine student grievances to the government's attention.
