5 Aug
Summary
- Police seized 6,568 Tramadol Hydrochloride tablets from Prime Pharmacy.
- The pharmacy owner and a delivery boy were arrested for illegal sales.
- Investigators are hunting for a suspected supplier who provided the drugs.

Madhapur police conducted a raid on Prime Pharmacy in Ayyappa Society on Wednesday, uncovering an alleged illegal operation involving Tramadol tablets. Authorities seized 821 strips containing 6,568 Tramadol Hydrochloride 50 mg tablets, a controlled psychotropic substance weighing approximately 328.4 grams.
The arrested individuals, pharmacy owner Thorri Venkatesham (32) and delivery boy Barlakadi Srikanth (32), are accused of selling these tablets without valid prescriptions or maintaining mandatory records. Investigations suggest the tablets were sourced illegally from Rathod Prakash, a resident of Narayankhed, who is currently absconding.
It is suspected that Venkatesham supplied the drugs through over-the-counter sales and home deliveries orchestrated by Srikanth, with all transactions conducted in cash. Police estimate that the accused may have supplied these psychotropic tablets to between 100 to 150 customers over the past several months.
Efforts are actively underway to identify the buyers, dismantle the supply network, gather digital and financial evidence, and apprehend the absconding supplier. A case has been registered, and the arrested individuals have been produced before a court, with further investigation ongoing.
