A fatal shooting in Ludhiana has resulted in a murder investigation after a 20-year-old student, Pankaj Kumar, was killed by a gunshot wound to the neck. The incident occurred Tuesday night at the residence of his friend, Varun, a local financier, in the Haibowal area. Authorities have officially booked five individuals, including Varun and his brother Kaif, along with associates Garry, Avi, and Nishant.
Investigators confirmed that the weapon used was a licensed firearm, issued to Varun just two months prior to the incident. While the victim's father alleges deliberate targeting, police are still determining whether the shooting was intentional or an accidental discharge. The suspects fled the scene and remain at large, prompting the formation of search parties by the Haibowal police.
Pankaj Kumar was transported to Dayanand Medical College (DMC) Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, with police actively seeking the firearm for forensic analysis.
