Lucknow was gripped by a horrific crime on August 20, 2026, when SBI employee Manas Vajpayee committed a brutal act of violence. He fatally shot his estranged wife, Divya Mishra, an assistant manager at ICICI Bank, outside her workplace in Gomti Nagar. The couple had been married for 12 years and Divya had filed for divorce last year.
Following the shooting, Vajpayee reportedly drove to his residence in Husadiya. There, he murdered his 28-year-old sister, Shiva Vajpayee. He then ended his own life. Authorities recovered illegal weapons from the scene, indicating premeditation.
Adding a disturbing layer, Vajpayee posted a chilling WhatsApp status before his death. It declared he had killed his wife for cheating and announced his intention to kill himself and his sister, also mentioning Pragya and Bharat as being aware of the situation.
The victim, Divya Mishra, is the sister of YouTuber Pragya Mishra, drawing significant public attention to the case. Police Commissioner Tarun Gaba and Inspector General Aparna Kumar are overseeing the investigation into the triple murder-suicide.
