The Lucknow Police Commissionerate operated under maximum alert during the New Year's transition, responding to a substantial 1,398 incidents between midnight on December 31 and 2 a.m. on January 1. This figure significantly exceeded the average daily call volume, with 827 incidents categorized as primary law-and-order concerns.
Interpersonal disputes emerged as the most prevalent issue, accounting for 275 reported cases. These often stemmed from neighborhood quarrels, family disagreements, and alcohol-related altercations during celebrations. Domestic violence complaints numbered 97, while the women's safety helpline 1090 received 89 calls, highlighting increased social tensions.
To effectively manage the heightened activity, the Commissionerate implemented measures such as deploying additional police forces, enhancing night patrols, and establishing traffic checkpoints.
