A prominent Hanuman temple in Lucknow was targeted by burglars on the night of August 2-3. The thieves broke multiple locks and forced open a shutter to gain access to the sanctum of the Shri Sankat Haran Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple.
During the heist, valuable silver ornaments, including nine crowns and three ceremonial umbrellas, were stolen from idols of various deities. The estimated value of the stolen religious artifacts is around ₹36 lakh.
Further compounding the crime, the burglars also stole the temple's CCTV digital video recorder (DVR). This action is believed to be a deliberate attempt to destroy evidence of their identities and movements.
Temple authorities reported the theft to the police, who have since collected evidence from the scene. Investigations are ongoing, with police reviewing footage from nearby areas to identify the perpetrators.
