Summary
- Two men convicted for 2023 murder of FCI officer's wife
 - Sentenced to life imprisonment with additional concurrent sentences
 - Robbery plot led to the killing of Anamika Singh in her home

On May 19, 2023, Anamika Singh, the 35-year-old wife of an FCI officer, was tragically stabbed to death in her Lucknow home. Two men, Arjun Soni and Virendra Kumar Yadav, have now been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the sensational daylight murder.
The Special Judge (PC Act Court No. 8) in Lucknow found both accused guilty under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code related to murder and criminal conspiracy. In addition to the life sentence, the court also imposed various concurrent sentences, including 10 years for house trespass and forgery, 5 years for cheating and forgery, and 3 years for impersonation. Virendra Kumar Yadav received an additional 3-year term under the Arms Act.
The investigations revealed that Arjun Soni, who lived on the top floor of the victim's house, hatched a robbery plan with his associate Virendra Yadav. Posing as telecom service agents, the duo gained entry to the house and attacked Anamika when she resisted their attempt to steal cash and jewelry. Police cracked the case after recovering a telecom company visiting card from the scene, leading them to the conspirators.
Anamika Singh, who lived alone with her child as her husband was employed outside Lucknow, became the tragic victim of this senseless crime. The court's verdict serves as a strong message against such heinous acts of violence.
