In a devastating incident on Christmas Day 2024, a driver has received a life sentence for a fatal rampage in London's West End. Anthony Gilheaney, 32, was handed the sentence with a minimum of 37 years.
Gilheaney was found guilty of murder, attempted murder, and causing grievous bodily harm following a trial. The court heard how he intentionally drove his high-powered Mercedes into a group of people on Shaftesbury Avenue. This occurred after an evening of drinking and altercations.
The attack tragically resulted in five victims. Aidan Chapman, aged 25, was fatally injured, succumbing to catastrophic head injuries in hospital on New Year's Eve, just days after the incident.
