In north London, a 19-year-old man arrested in connection with an arson attack on Jewish charity ambulances has been released on bail. The incident occurred in the early hours of March 23, when four ambulances belonging to Hatzola, a volunteer-led service, were set ablaze near a synagogue in Golders Green. The explosions from cylinders on the vehicles caused damage, shattering windows in nearby buildings, though no injuries were sustained.
Following the attack, CCTV footage captured three men fleeing the scene. Three suspects – Hamza Iqbal, 20; Rehan Khan, 19; and a 17-year-old boy – were charged with arson. Prosecutors indicated strong evidence suggesting a premeditated attack on the Jewish community. Investigators are also examining potential involvement of an Iranian-backed group that claimed responsibility. Counter-terrorism police are heading the investigation, although it is not currently classified as terrorism. Previously arrested men, aged 45 and 47, have been released with no further action.
