A man in Pune, facing unemployment, was rescued by Parvati police on Thursday from a hotel on Sinhagad Road. He was attempting to take his own life due to distress over an online loan scam. The individual had taken a Rs 20,000 loan last year after seeing an online advertisement.
Despite repaying Rs 5 lakh to the fraudsters, they persisted in demanding more money. The suspects also threatened to upload morphed photographs of him on social media, aiming to defame him and his associates. The man had left his residence on March 6, prompting his wife to file a missing person's report on March 8.
Police analyzed CCTV footage and traced his movements across the city, eventually locating him in a hotel on Sinhagad Road. Upon arrival, officers found him writing a suicide note. The incident highlights the severe consequences of online loan fraud and the urgent need for intervention.
