Lawyer's Weinstein regret: Epstein files shock

California lawyer Lisa Bloom, who has represented 11 of Jeffrey Epstein's victims, has initiated new legal action against the FBI. The lawsuit, filed in December 2025, alleges the FBI failed to investigate credible reports of Epstein's misconduct dating back to 1996. Bloom's clients claim an FBI official dismissed an initial report, highlighting a systemic failure to protect potential victims.

Bloom, whose mother is renowned attorney Gloria Allred, has secured substantial settlements for her clients, totaling millions from both the Epstein estate and JP Morgan. She notes that many powerful individuals enabled Epstein's actions, a fact underscored by documents like a book gifted to him for his 50th birthday in 2003.

Despite her advocacy for victims, Bloom has faced criticism for her past work advising Harvey Weinstein in 2016, an action she has since called a "colossal mistake." She defends her firm's contingency fee structure, emphasizing that it allows victims access to legal recourse against powerful defendants.

As of February 2026, only a fraction of the millions of pages of Epstein-related documents have been released, with Bloom's firm beginning to review newly released files. She expresses dismay at the lenient treatment of Ghislaine Maxwell and hopes for future accountability for Epstein's influential associates, including Donald Trump.
