Summary
- Forest employee injured during lion rescue operation in Amreli.
- Accused demanded to see rescued lions, leading to assault.
- Threats of death and physical harm were made against the forester.
A forest employee sustained injuries during a lion rescue operation in Amreli district on September 29, 2026. Two lionesses had fallen into a farm well near Dahida village and were safely rescued, receiving treatment at the Ambardi Rescue Centre.
On October 3, 2026, while the rescued lionesses were being transported for release, two men, identified as Asim Shaap alias Gulab Laliya and an associate, confronted forest staff. They demanded to see the lions from the transport vehicle, a request the forester, Shivraj Dhadhal, denied due to the ongoing operation.
The situation escalated when the men returned, again demanding to see the animals and pressuring Dhadhal to speak with Toshif Laliya via phone. Following Dhadhal's continued refusal, the men allegedly subjected him to abuse and death threats. As Dhadhal attempted to report the incident to the police, the men allegedly reversed their SUV, striking him and injuring his left hand before escaping.
