A woman, her lover, and a third associate have received life sentences for their roles in a murder conspiracy. The court in Barabanki convicted Renu alias Radharani, her lover Vinod Sharma, and Pradeep Loniya for the premeditated murder of Arun Kumar Verma, Renu's husband.
Verma disappeared on March 22, 2019, with his wife later reporting him missing. His body was discovered floating in the Gomti river days later. Investigations, including DNA analysis and a post-mortem, confirmed he died violently.
The prosecution detailed how Pradeep lured Verma to Vinod's house for a party. After Verma's condition worsened, he was fatally attacked and his body thrown into the river as part of the conspiracy.
Following a thorough review of the evidence, the court determined that the killing was planned and executed by all three accused. This led to their conviction and the imposition of rigorous life imprisonment, along with a ₹25,000 fine each.
