The tragic incident occurred on October 25, 2020, in the parking lot of an LCBO in the Danforth Village area. Roberts and Sudomericky, who were strangers, had a disagreement inside the store concerning social distancing protocols.
Following the argument, Roberts pursued Sudomericky into the parking lot and fatally shot him in the lower back. The murder took place in broad daylight and was witnessed by others. Sudomericky's friends and family submitted victim impact statements, detailing the profound devastation caused by his death.
