2 Jul
Summary
- Suspect was on probation for a prior assault against the victim.
- An arrest warrant for burglary was reportedly not served.
- Victim's family claims years of harassment preceded the killing.

Isaiah Johnson surrendered to authorities on Monday, hours after allegedly shooting and killing Joanna Walton. Walton was discovered deceased inside her car at her apartment complex. Johnson, the father of Walton's child, was on probation for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon from 2023, a charge stemming from an incident where he allegedly pistol-whipped Walton when a gun jammed.
According to court records, Johnson allegedly broke into Walton's apartment in August 2025 while still under probation supervision. An arrest warrant was issued for burglary, but it was reportedly never served until Johnson turned himself in for the murder charge. Authorities are investigating why the warrant was not executed. Johnson is currently held on a $360,000 bond.
