On Sunday afternoon, a dispute at the Lodhi toll plaza on the Robertsganj-Chopan road in Sonbhadra escalated into an alleged assault on a lawyer's family by toll staff. The confrontation arose when the automated FASTag system failed to process a vehicle's payment, leading to a backup of traffic. Aarti Pandey, a lawyer from Robertsganj, along with her family members, approached the toll counter to inquire about the delay.
According to reports, an exchange of heated words ensued between the lawyer's family and the toll collection staff. The situation then reportedly turned physical, with toll plaza employees allegedly assaulting the lawyer's family members. The lawyer managed to record the incident on her mobile phone, which drew the attention and support of other vehicle occupants.
In response to the complaint filed by Aarti Pandey, local police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the law. As of Monday, police have arrested two individuals, identified as Ramji Tiwari and Sarvesh Yadav, in connection with the assault. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend any other individuals involved in the incident.
