Summary
- Woman told twice her pregnancy was not viable.
- Healthy baby discovered with strong heartbeat at 8 weeks.
- Lawsuit filed against medical group and performing doctor.

A Las Vegas woman, Stacy Norris, has filed a lawsuit against Women's Health Associates of Southern Nevada and Dr. Sheldon Paul. Norris alleges she was informed twice in the fall of 2021 that her pregnancy was not viable and her baby had no heartbeat.
She was presented with options including medication or a D&C abortion, choosing the latter due to the reported lack of fetal heartbeat. However, Norris later experienced doubts and sought a second opinion at Centennial Hills Hospital.
Tests at the hospital revealed a strong heartbeat and high hormone levels consistent with a healthy, growing pregnancy, approximately eight weeks along. Norris subsequently welcomed her baby at 35 weeks via C-section. The lawsuit claims Dr. Paul performed the D&C on a viable pregnancy, falsely documenting it as non-viable, which led to his disciplinary action and reassignment.
