A law student was brutally attacked in Kurar Village, Malad, for allegedly filing complaints against local criminals. The victim, Kanchan Dinanath Tiwari, 24, was assaulted on July 9, 2026, by three masked assailants.
According to police, the attackers accused Tiwari of reporting their activities. They used a wire to target his head, chest, and face. Witnesses were threatened with a knife and the wire when they intervened.
Following the incident, Tiwari identified Rahul Amarnath Vishwakarma and Shivam Singh as two of the assailants. Both were involved in ongoing harassment against the victim and his family due to his father's journalistic work.
Vishwakarma, a wanted accused, was arrested on Saturday, July 12, 2026. He was remanded to police custody, while authorities continue to search for Shivam Singh and another unidentified individual.
