In Las Vegas, a hit-and-run incident on January 12th left a new father, Matias Lagarreta, with critical injuries. Lagarreta was struck by a white SUV at the intersection of Marion Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard while riding his motorcycle. The impact ejected him from his bike, and the SUV driver fled the scene, leaving him with severe injuries, including a brain bleed and bruised lungs. He was admitted to University Medical Center and placed in a medically induced coma.
Lagarreta's wife, Ashley, shared that the couple had recently welcomed their first child on December 15, 2025. She expressed her fear of losing her husband and urged the driver to come forward. Lagarreta regained consciousness on January 15th, waking from his coma and managing to tell his wife he loved her. This hopeful development came after a few difficult days for the family.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the collision and is seeking public assistance to identify the white SUV, possibly a 2020-2022 Kia Sportage with damage to its right side. They urge anyone with information, dash-cam footage, or doorbell video to contact them immediately to help apprehend the driver.
