- Forged documents and false affidavits were used in the property transfer.
- The fraud was discovered when the owner's sister found construction on the plot.
In a startling incident, a Rajkot man's ancestral land was allegedly sold by an impersonator while the owner resided in Canada. The accused, identified as Uttamsinh Rathod, is alleged to have facilitated the transfer of a 64.3 sq m plot using forged documents and false affidavits.
The victim's sister, Hema Sakariya, lodged a complaint after discovering foundation work on her brother Vishal Sakariya's land. Records revealed a sale deed dated August 12, 2024, transferring the property to Rathod and Jayrajsinh Jadeja. Vishal Sakariya had moved to Canada on April 6, 2023, and had not returned since, confirming his absence during the transaction.
Investigations, including video footage from the Economic Offences Wing, reportedly showed an individual impersonating Vishal, identified by two witnesses. The property was subsequently transferred to Kalpesh Gadhiya and Bharat Gadhiya. Hema Sakariya, now holding power of attorney from her brother, seeks legal recourse against the alleged conspirators.
