Authorities in Lady Lake are conducting a manhunt for 18-year-old Jeremiah Mykel Ackon, whom they have deemed armed and dangerous. He is a person of interest in a shooting incident that occurred on May 19 near U.S. Highway 27/441. During this event, a man reportedly fired a semi-automatic handgun about 10 times at a vehicle on Griffin View Drive, though no injuries were reported.
Investigators believe Ackon was driving the maroon Nissan SUV involved in the shooting, which has since been recovered. Furthermore, Ackon is suspected of being connected to an armed robbery at Vape Nation on May 30, where a firearm was also used and has not been recovered.
Lady Lake Police Chief Steve Hunt stated that these incidents involved "brazen acts of violence that placed innocent members of our community at risk." The public is strongly advised not to approach Ackon if he is spotted and to immediately call 911.
