- Victim Miguel Aguilar, a fitness influencer, died months after the shooting.
- Suspects allegedly drove from Oakland to LA specifically for robberies.

A Los Angeles County judge has determined there is sufficient evidence for three Oakland men to face trial in connection with a 2024 attempted robbery and the subsequent death of fitness influencer Miguel Aguilar. Mahki Taylor, Daymonee Johnson, and Jason Melara are accused of a violent attempted robbery on September 13, 2024, which led to Aguilar's death three months later.
Prosecutors stated that the accused men allegedly traveled from Oakland to Los Angeles with the specific purpose of conducting robberies. During the confrontation at Aguilar's home on the day of the incident, one of the suspects reportedly shot Aguilar in the head. Aguilar, who had a permit to carry a firearm, also fired a shot. His wife was present but unsure who initiated the gunfire.
