Father Arrested in Mexico After Girlfriend's Murder, Daughter Rescued

Ruben Fregoso, a 40-year-old Los Angeles resident, has been apprehended in Mexico. He is accused of murdering his girlfriend and abducting their five-year-old daughter, Daleyza. The investigation began on May 25 when authorities discovered the mother deceased in their West Adams residence, with preliminary findings indicating violence as the cause.

Following an Amber Alert, surveillance footage showed Fregoso and Daleyza leaving a parking garage in San Ysidro with luggage, leading investigators to believe they had fled to Mexico. Detectives confirmed over the weekend that Fregoso was taken into custody, and his daughter was located safely. U.S. Embassy officials are arranging Daleyza's return to her family in Los Angeles, and the extradition process for Fregoso is set to commence.
