A 61-year-old man residing in Kyoto's Nishikyo Ward was apprehended on July 23, 2026, on suspicion of inflicting injury. He is accused of subjecting his neighbors to continuous loud noise from electric guitars and radios for over seven years.
The alleged noise campaign, occurring daily both day and night, reportedly led to four individuals suffering from health problems, including insomnia, depression, and tinnitus. Despite receiving guidance and warnings from Kyoto Prefectural Police, the situation did not improve.
