Koreatown Man Wounded After Stabbing Himself, Charging Officer

Police in Koreatown were involved in a shooting incident Friday morning, resulting in a man being critically wounded. Officers responded to a business in the 850 block of South Vermont Avenue where they encountered 35-year-old Freisman Sanchez. He had allegedly broken windows and was seen bleeding, holding a piece of glass.
According to LAPD, Sanchez refused to comply with officers' instructions and advanced directly towards one of them. This action led to the officer discharging their firearm. Sanchez was treated at a local hospital for multiple gunshot wounds in addition to the stab wounds he inflicted upon himself.
The suspect has been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, pending completion of his medical treatment. No other individuals were reported injured during the incident.
