A murder investigation is underway in Kolkata after a trader, Sunny Singh, was found dead in his rented Sarsuna residence on Tuesday evening. He was discovered hanging from a fan, with neighbors alerted by his wife, Punita. Singh had moved to the Sarsuna address six months prior.
Authorities were alerted around 6:55 pm and found Singh unresponsive. He was taken to Vidyasagar Hospital, where he was declared dead. An initial examination revealed a ligature mark around his neck, and a post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as ante-mortem hanging.
The case took a turn when Sunny Singh's sister, Sangita Shaw, filed a complaint accusing his wife, Punita, and her brother, Rakesh Paswan, of murder. Reports indicate the couple had frequent arguments, and Punita had previously filed a police complaint against Singh in December. Police have registered a murder case based on Shaw's complaint.
