Ghosh's 75-year-old bedridden husband, Arup Kumar Ghosh, was in the flat at the time of the incident.
Neighbors reported hearing cries for help around 8:30 AM and found Anita Ghosh lying near the bathroom in a pool of blood. They detained Sarkar, who initially claimed to be a witness but later confessed to the stabbing. Police have confirmed Sarkar previously worked as a caregiver for the victim's husband four years ago.
Ghosh was taken to a private hospital where she was declared dead. Investigations are ongoing to determine if Sarkar was sent by an agency, as the couple utilized changing caregivers. The incident highlights concerns about the trustworthiness of hired help, a sentiment the victim had recently expressed.
