In a Kasba residence on Bosepukur Road, a domestic dispute escalated tragically early Sunday morning, March 29, 2026. Binod Singh, 45, allegedly stabbed his wife, Swapna Singh, 42, multiple times while she slept. The attack followed an earlier altercation where Swapna refused to provide Rs 4,000 for his gambling and drinking addictions.
Their 16-year-old daughter reported that her father returned home around 4 am and, without provocation, attacked her sleeping mother with a kitchen knife. Neighbours heard the commotion and rushed Swapna to Chittaranjan National Medical College and Hospital. Despite efforts, she succumbed to her severe abdominal injuries.
Locals apprehended Binod Singh as he attempted to flee the scene. Police arrested him based on the daughter's complaint. Investigators noted Singh, a grill factory worker, frequently argued with his wife over finances and harbored suspicions of infidelity. The victim was the primary breadwinner, and Singh had previously interfered with her employment.
