Elderly Man Dies After Heated Argument Over Loan

A senior citizen, Arunjyoti Bar, passed away on Monday night following a health crisis triggered by a domestic quarrel. The incident occurred after the brother of a local money lender, identified as Ahmed, arrived at Bar's residence off Tollygunge Circular Road to demand repayment of a loan.
Bar's daughter, Kinkini Bar, reported that her father had borrowed Rs 70,000 from Ahmed several years prior. On February 2nd, Ahmed's brother, Hazrat, allegedly became aggressive and assaulted both her parents during the demand for payment. Arunjyoti Bar, who had existing conditions like asthma, heart blockage, and diabetes, suffered breathing difficulties after the altercation.
He was promptly taken to MR Bangur Hospital but tragically succumbed to his condition while undergoing medical treatment. Police have registered a case of culpable homicide leading to murder, initiating an investigation into the events surrounding Arunjyoti Bar's death.
