19 Nov
Summary
- Woman arrested for kidnapping six-month-old Mohit Molla from BC Roy Hospital.
- Accused claimed her own child was forcibly taken years ago.
- The infant was safely returned to his parents Tuesday night.

A six-month-old baby boy, Mohit Molla, was abducted from BC Roy Hospital in Beleghata, Kolkata, on Monday. The alleged kidnapper, identified as Sabina Bibi, also known as Shyama Mondal, was apprehended in Nibandua village, Bhangar. Bibi was subsequently taken into police custody after being presented before a local court.
During questioning by the Phoolbagan Police, Bibi revealed a deeply personal motive. She stated that her own child from a previous marriage was forcibly taken away years ago, and her subsequent attempts to regain custody legally had failed. Authorities are investigating whether her actions were driven by a genuine longing for her lost child, as evidenced by her purchase of baby supplies, or if she intended to sell the infant.
The police successfully recovered and returned Mohit Molla to his parents, Manjila Khatun and Monirul, on Tuesday night. The incident occurred when Manjila took her infant to the hospital for medicine. Bibi allegedly approached Manjila, offering to hold the baby, and then fled with him when Manjila was momentarily distracted.
