An app-cab driver, identified as Kuldeep Singh Yadav, was arrested on Sunday in Kolkata's Palmer Bazaar area by Entally police. He is accused of threatening and robbing two passengers on October 7th. The incident began when Yadav, driving from Salt Lake to Park Street, suggested an unauthorized stop to pick up his lunchbox.
One passenger objected to the detour, which escalated into an argument. Subsequently, Yadav allegedly summoned friends who surrounded the cab, threatened the passengers, and stole Rs 4,500 in cash. The passengers initially reported the incident at Topsia police station before it was transferred to Entally police.
Investigators successfully traced Yadav using the cab aggregator's trip details and mobile phone location data. He was detained on Saturday night and arrested the following day. Authorities are now working to identify and arrest others involved and are investigating Yadav's criminal history.
