On October 5, 2025, the Kodagu district police have taken strict measures to address disruptions during the ongoing Dasara celebrations in the region. According to the Kodagu Superintendent of Police Ramarajan, the Madikeri police have filed a case against the Karavale Bhagavathy Dasara Mantapa Committee for creating a commotion during the Dasara prize distribution ceremony at Gandhi Maidan on Friday.
The police are currently verifying footage to identify the individuals involved in the ruckus. The incident occurred when the Dasara committee announced the winners of the tableau competition, prompting around 30-40 people supporting the Karavale Bhagavathy Dasara committee to start a disturbance. This caused a loss of Rs 2 lakh.
Separately, the Gonikoppal police have also registered cases against the office bearers of four mantaps (pavilions) for noise pollution violations during the Dasara festivities. The authorities are determined to maintain law and order and ensure the smooth conduct of the cultural celebrations in Kodagu.
