City police in Kochi apprehended two individuals early Thursday morning, confiscating 14.63 grams of MDMA. The arrested men, identified as Amal George Shenson, 33, and Abhijith M V, 25, are suspected of supplying drugs to influential clients. Their customer base reportedly includes prominent figures from the film industry and medical practitioners.
The raid, conducted by the district anti-narcotic special action force (Dansaf) and local police, took place at a flat in the Fasisha apartment complex. The operation began late Wednesday night and concluded shortly after midnight on Thursday. Police seized mobile phones from the accused and are actively working to identify their regular buyers.
Cheranallore police have registered a case against the suspects under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The accused were presented in court and subsequently remanded in judicial custody. This arrest is part of "Operation Toofan," an intensified crackdown on drug peddling within the city. Authorities are encouraging the public to share any information regarding drug abuse to aid their efforts.
