Kochi has witnessed a substantial rise in drug-related cases, with police registering 3,006 incidents in 2025. This marks a significant 22% increase from the 2,475 cases reported in 2024. Accompanying this surge, the number of arrests under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act escalated to 3,325 in 2025, up from 2,793 the preceding year.
Further data reveals a dramatic increase in the volume of seized narcotics. Suspected ganja seizures rose to 383.35 kg, while the amount of suspected MDMA seized nearly doubled from 1.89 kg in 2024 to 3.08 kg in 2025. Other significant seizures included hashish oil, cocaine, LSD stamps, and methamphetamine, underscoring the diverse nature of drug trafficking within the city.
