Derbyshire Police are appealing for public assistance following a disturbing act of cruelty involving several kittens being thrown into a canal. The incident took place on Derby Road in Long Eaton on Monday afternoon.
Reports indicate that a man was seen deliberately throwing kittens into the water. A quick-thinking member of the public intervened and successfully pulled three kittens to safety.
Officers also attended the scene and managed to retrieve another kitten. One of the rescued animals is currently under veterinary treatment and is showing positive signs for a full recovery.
