Karl Hutchings, 48, pleaded guilty in September 2025 to the murder of Julie Buckley, 55. He provided authorities with a map to her remains, which were discovered in 10 pieces in a shallow grave in Wimblington, Cambridgeshire. Buckley was last seen alive on CCTV footage on January 28, 2025.
Concerns arose when Buckley missed appointments. Police found blood at Hutchings' home, linking it forensically to Buckley. Hutchings was arrested on February 13, 2025. Prosecutors allege Buckley was murdered between January 29 and January 30, 2025, after which Hutchings used her bank card and sold her car for £500.
Agnew claimed Hutchings confessed to killing Buckley because she was stealing and manipulated him. He allegedly struck her with a hammer multiple times. Hutchings had been released from a psychiatric unit less than three months prior to the murder. His next court hearing is scheduled for July 9, 2026.
