A 22-year-old man has learned his fate for the fatal shooting of an Ohio market owner in May 2025. Joshua Norfleet was sentenced on Thursday to between 25 and 30.5 years in prison.
Norfleet previously pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and robbery. The incident took place at Livingston Market shortly before midnight on May 25, 2025. Police responding to the scene found the owner, 47-year-old Jehad Alzaben, with gunshot wounds.
He was transported to Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. Surveillance video showed Norfleet making purchases before returning with a mask and shooting Alzaben. He then stole the owner's gun and fled the scene.
During his sentencing, Norfleet expressed remorse for his actions, stating, "I apologize. I messed up. Can't go back from it, but I'm going to fix my mistakes."
