In a harrowing turn of events, Savannah Kulla, a single mother of three boys and an infant daughter, Skyla-Rose, was murdered by her ex-partner, Anthony Deschepper, on October 21, 2025. Deschepper, who had a documented history of firearms offenses and was previously released on bail, engaged in escalating controlling behavior, stalking, and manipulation.
His disturbing tactics included faking his own suicide in September 2025, leaving Kulla devastated. Despite obtaining a restraining order, Kulla allowed brief contact with their daughter. Weeks later, Deschepper shot Kulla six times in a strip mall parking lot, shortly after she dropped off Skyla-Rose. The infant was found safe, but Kulla died from her injuries.
Following a manhunt, Deschepper was located by police approximately eighty miles away and was shot dead on October 22, 2025. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for bail reform, with local officials highlighting the negligence in releasing an individual with a violent history. Kulla's mother aims to keep her daughter's story alive to advocate for change.
