A vigilant citizen's call to 911 has resulted in the rescue of an 11-year-old boy subjected to days of torture, strangulation, and abuse. Cody Clark noticed Junior Bishop in Darnell Hairston's truck at an unusual hour and, suspecting foul play, contacted authorities.
Deputies intercepted Hairston, a registered sex offender, and Bishop on US-1. Bodycam footage captured Hairston's attempt to flee and resist arrest, including a struggle for a deputy's weapon. During the commotion, Bishop took the truck's driver's seat and sped away, initiating a pursuit that concluded with Bishop crashing into a patrol car.
Investigators revealed that Hairston and Bishop had lured the child to a campsite where the horrific abuse took place. Hairston is now facing numerous kidnapping and assault charges, while Bishop's charges are currently limited to those stemming from the vehicle chase and subsequent crash.
