- Police are probing links to a wider narcotics network and potential student involvement.

Two contractual teachers in Kerala's Kozhikode district have been apprehended for their alleged participation in an MDMA distribution network. The accused, who reportedly earned around Rs 12,000 each per month, were arrested during Operation Toofan, an anti-narcotics initiative. Colleagues' suspicions about their unusually lavish lifestyles prompted the investigation.
The probe was initiated after a man, identified as Safwan, was detained with MDMA. His interrogation reportedly revealed a well-organized drug distribution system that involved overseas communication and digital payments. Financial investigations linked payment channels to the apprehended teachers.
A Special Investigation Team has been constituted to identify the MDMA source, trace international operators, and uncover all involved parties. Investigators are also examining whether students may have been supplied drugs by the teachers. The case has shocked many, as the teachers had previously participated in anti-drug awareness programs.
