In a significant operation, the rural district anti-narcotics special action force (Dansaf) team, working with Mangalapuram police, apprehended four individuals, seizing 22 grams of MDMA. Among those arrested were two brothers, Shafeeq and Shameer, both known to the police for their criminal activities.
Shafeeq, 29, and Shameer, 26, along with Rahul, 28, and Mufasil, 29, were taken into custody based on specific intelligence. The brothers have a history of serious offenses, including the assault of a gold merchant, theft, abduction, and even hurling a bomb at police officers during a prior arrest attempt. Shameer notably attempted to escape custody last year by self-harm.
The arrested men were presented before the Attingal court, which ordered their remand to 14 days of judicial custody. This action highlights the ongoing efforts by Kerala police to combat drug trafficking in the region.
