Ramnarayan sustained severe head injuries and excessive bleeding, with his post-mortem report indicating over 80 injury marks. A video of the incident shows the mob repeatedly calling him "Bangladeshi" and mocking his responses. The Kerala Police registered a case and arrested five accused residents of Attapallam village on December 18. Ramnarayan, who had no criminal record, leaves behind two young sons.
Chhattisgarh's Home Minister expressed outrage and assured assistance to the grieving family. The incident has sparked widespread concern, highlighting the dangers faced by migrant workers. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the mob lynching that stemmed from a fatal case of mistaken identity and xenophobia.
