Summary

- The victim, Ram Narayan, died after being assaulted for alleged theft.
- No stolen property was found on the victim during the incident.

Five individuals have been apprehended in connection with the fatal lynching of Ram Narayan, a labourer from Chhattisgarh, in Kerala's Palakkad district. The victim was allegedly accused of theft and subjected to a violent assault by a group of local residents in the Attappallam area.
Ram Narayan collapsed during the assault, vomiting blood. He was quickly transported to Palakkad district hospital by locals and police, but tragically passed away on Thursday due to his injuries. Preliminary investigations by authorities revealed that no stolen items were found in his possession, and he had recently arrived in Kerala seeking employment.
A postmortem conducted at Thrissur Medical College confirmed severe injuries across his body, indicating a brutal attack. This tragic event has unfortunately brought back memories of the 2018 lynching of Madhu, a tribal man who was also beaten to death after being falsely accused of theft in Palakkad.
