Derek Egan, 39, has received a 32-week prison sentence for unlawfully entering the grounds of Kensington Palace on two separate occasions in the days leading up to Christmas.
Egan pleaded guilty to two counts of trespass on a protected site at Westminster Magistrates Court. When asked to explain his actions, he stated, "because I am a criminal." His intrusions also resulted in a breach of his existing bail conditions, which specifically forbade him from returning to the palace.
Kensington Palace, located in west London, is known to be a residence for members of the Royal Family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children.
