At King Edward Memorial Hospital, two nurses and four security guards were reportedly assaulted by the family members of a patient who had died. Relatives allegedly entered the ward around 4:30 am, creating a disturbance and verbally abusing medical staff before resorting to physical violence. Following the assaults, hospital administration involved the police, and an First Information Report (FIR) was registered.
In response to the violence, around 200 nurses participated in a protest, advocating for improved security measures. Their demands included an increase in trained security personnel, addressing vacant nursing positions, and implementing stricter visitor policies within hospital wards. Hospital authorities have formally requested enhanced security arrangements from municipal corporation officials.
