Sinclair was captured on Monday morning near the Kapaa Public Library after a foot pursuit that ended with him jumping into the ocean. His bail has been significantly raised to $1.5 million.
The investigation began on June 6 when officers responded to a suspicious death report and found 37-year-old Sergio Reyes Hernandez deceased at his workplace in Hanalei. The death was later determined to be a homicide. On the same day, officers responded to reports of gunshots in Kilauea, where a resident sustained minor injuries.
Sinclair was identified as a person of interest in both incidents and a manhunt was initiated, with authorities warning the public that he was armed and dangerous. During the course of the investigation, Kauai police have recovered multiple firearms. Sinclair was previously arrested on suspicion of numerous firearm and weapons offenses.
