In Kanpur, a shocking incident of robbery turned fatal when 58-year-old Uma Kushwaha was strangled to death in her home on Tuesday evening. The crime occurred around 5 p.m. in the Hasanpur area, within the Rawatpur police station's jurisdiction.
According to police reports, intruders entered Kushwaha's residence while she was watching television. When she resisted their robbery attempt, they allegedly strangled her and then placed her body on a chair to conceal the crime.
Approximately three hours later, a tenant discovered Kushwaha unresponsive on the chair and alerted her husband. Upon arrival, her husband observed a dark bruise around her neck and noted that household items were scattered, indicating a struggle.
The family reported that jewelry worth ₹22 lakh and other valuables are missing. Police and forensic teams have processed the crime scene. DCP (West) SM Qasim Abidi stated that all aspects are under investigation, with efforts focused on identifying the accused through CCTV footage.
