In Kanpur Dehat, a road blockade was initiated by villagers near Minda Kuan on Saturday. The demonstration was a response to allegations that a police outpost in-charge's car was involved in a hit-and-run incident. A 26-year-old man, Dharmendra Kumar, sustained a fractured leg when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle in the Mangalpur police station area.
Protesters asserted that the car involved in the incident belonged to the in-charge of the Narkhurd outpost. After receiving treatment for his injury, Dharmendra Kumar reportedly went to the outpost to file an application regarding the accident. However, villagers alleged that his complaint was not addressed promptly.
This alleged inaction fueled the villagers' anger, leading them to block the road. Police from Mangalpur and Rasoolabad stations arrived at the scene. CO Derapur, Dharmendra Raghuvanshi, successfully pacified the protesters by assuring them of a comprehensive investigation and appropriate action based on the inquiry's findings. The villagers subsequently lifted the road blockade.
Mr. Raghuvanshi stated that the entire incident is under investigation and confirmed that actions will be taken once the facts are established. The situation has since returned to normal following the resolution of the protest.
